Coffee is produced in about 80 countries around the world. For 50 of these countries, it is their main product and driving force of the economy.
Coffee comes second after petroleum in global production, and in Latin America without coffee there would be no economy to speak of.
Even though at any given moment around the world there are hundreds of millions of people consuming coffee, most would never guess how important and complex a procedure it is to cultivate, process, transport and produce this beverage, which is considered by many to be nothing more than a black drink.
Coffee is cultivated in the Indies, Central and South America, Antilles and recently in China. There are two main varieties of coffee: Robusta and Arabica.
